anotherr tanzperformance / live visuals

Reality is somewhere else entirely. AnotherR is a dance performance on the impact of virtual realities on the body, perception, and social interaction. Two dancers and a musician examine how digitalisation changes the way we think, feel, and move: equipped with VR headsets, the performers progressively lose their bearings between reality and illusion.

The piece is structured as a unit of dance, music, and image. The live visuals by Jakob Hütter are built as a real-time system in TouchDesigner and performed live at every show — no fixed timecode playback, responding directly to b.fleischmann’s live sound and the choreography. Two to four projections cover the back wall and the stage floor, merging both surfaces into one continuous, immersive image space. Point clouds, line structures, and particle systems translate the electronic score into spatial movement, bridging sound, digitality, and the physicality of the performers. At times the projection literally frames the dancers: fields of light on the floor mark, isolate, and connect the bodies within the digital space.

Following its premiere at OFF Theater Vienna (2022), AnotherR toured to OHO Oberwart and the Ecosistem Festival Bucharest (2023), returned to Vienna as part of “Tanz im OFF” (2023), and was presented at Tanzhaus Basel in 2026.
