STOCKHAUSEN – LICHT

Semi-staged performance: Donnerstag aus Licht
Sound direction: Kathinka Pasveer
Conductor: Peter Eötvös
Organisation: Elbphilharmonie
Kampnagel | Hamburg
Performance | Light compositions: Jakob Hütter (handmitauge)

As part of the International Music Festival Hamburg, a focus was placed on Karlheinz Stockhausen.

The Elbphilharmonie Hamburg presented Donnerstag aus Licht (third act, “Michaels Heimkehr” (Festival/Vision)) in the premises of the former crane factory “Kampnagel”.

The opera cycle “Licht” is conceived for 29 hours and a week of performance time; it encompasses various soundtracks, synthesizers, orchestra, choir, performance, installation, space and image.

Part of Stockhausen’s extremely complex composition calls for various “light compositions”, which were interpreted by Jakob Hütter (hand mit auge) and projected on site.
