Synthetic Climate

A collective of several performers, interacting while spatially separated from one another in a virtual electronic sound environment, generates an audiovisual synthesis that exists in a delicate artificial equilibrium. In the software Pure Data, each individual controls a channel with 2 samples each, a filter and a granular feedback function. From this, a weather-like structure is abstracted in the software TouchDesigner according to the effective modulation, simultaneously functioning as a visual score.

During the runtime of the Digital Art Network, instead of the manual configurations, the outputs of the participating artists were used to present a temporally unlimited variation of the system.

Furthermore, using recorded performer data, it was adapted in higher resolution for the installation “Remote Sandbox” and shown in the Angewandte showroom during the Angewandte Festival as well as at Parallel 2020.

Venue: digitalnetzwerk.at, VPN & Youtube Stream, VPN; Parallel 2020; Angewandte Festival 2020 Angewandte Schauraum.
