linger (“oh moment, linger a while”)
Through constant digital progress and our consumer society, people are permanently flooded with visual input.
Through the fragmentation of our routines, improbable demands and suggestions about our potential, we are urged away from stillness towards permanent motion and compulsive progress. It becomes ever harder to linger in the moment and to pause; future and past, permanently gnawing at the back of our minds, often make the present seem unreal and distant.
Driftwood becomes, through sensor technology (Kinect video signal and positioning) and projection, a playful mirror of our inner conflict.
As a symbolic allegory, speed and motion are dissolved into granular digital fragments far removed from the actual state (Ableton/Max sound; TouchDesigner/Resolume video).
After a longer pause, the projection returns the branch constellation to its apparent original state (3D scan and shader) – unreal and immediate.
