The historic architecture of the Kuppelsaal (TU Wien, Karlsplatz) serves as a screen for an audiovisual mapping performance. Using the technique of object-adapted projection, the composition of sound and video transforms the space into an audiovisually tangible performance.
At the outset, alongside the space, there was a rough dramaturgy that was first realised sonically.
The light installation was meant to feel mystical, alive, like the belly of a ship, yet still technical and fragmentary. Various sound tracks were used as reference and trigger for the diverse visual fragments. Based on photographs, a 3D model of the space was created. After various iterations and sonic as well as visual adjustments, the finalised work was reprojected onto the room’s architecture and presented at the opening of the TED event.
