Zum 150-jährigen Bestehen des 10. Wiener Gemeindebezirks bespielte Hand mit Auge am 26. September 2024 drei Fassaden am Columbusplatz mit einer multimedialen Projektionsshow. Der Platz — eine offene, begehbare Gebäudezeile direkt an der Favoritenstraße — ist gelebter, diverser Alltagsraum mitten im Bezirk: Das Publikum stand nicht vor einer Bühne, sondern mitten im Geschehen.

Die Show erzählte die Geschichte Favoritens im 3D-Mapping entlang seiner Wahrzeichen — vom Hauptbahnhof über das Amalienbad bis zum Ziegelbau, der den Arbeiterbezirk begründete. Die Fassadenelemente der drei Gebäude wurden dafür in 3D modelliert; Architektur und Animation greifen ineinander, die Häuser selbst werden zu Erzählern. Ein eigens komponierter Soundtrack von Jakob Schauer und Martin Winterleitner verdichtete Projektion und Platz zum Gesamtereignis.

Die Show entstand im Auftrag der Bezirksvorstehung Favoriten unter Bezirksvorsteher Marcus Franz — als zeitgemäße, wiederholbare Alternative zum klassischen Jubiläumsfeuerwerk. Sie wurde am Abend zweimal aufgeführt und war Teil des Kulturfestivals FAVORITE FALL.

For the 150th anniversary of Vienna’s 10th district, Hand mit Auge staged a multimedia projection show across three façades on Columbusplatz on 26 September 2024. The square — an open, walkable row of buildings directly on Favoritenstraße — is a lived, diverse everyday space in the heart of the district: the audience didn’t stand in front of a stage, but in the middle of it.

The show told the history of Favoriten through 3D mapping along its landmarks — from the central station and the Amalienbad to the brickworks that founded the working-class district. The façade elements of the three buildings were modelled in 3D; architecture and animation interlock, turning the buildings themselves into narrators. An original soundtrack by Jakob Schauer and Martin Winterleitner fused projection and square into a single event.

The show was commissioned by the District Administration of Favoriten under District Chairman Marcus Franz — as a contemporary, repeatable alternative to a traditional anniversary fireworks display. It was performed twice that evening and was part of the FAVORITE FALL cultural festival.
